INTRO
Okay, I know what you're thinking. "Book 9 Already???" But it's never too early for next book theories!
I'm going to think up some titles that I think will fit book 9, so I can say "I told you so!" if I get one of them right. If. It's probably unlikely, but I'll try!
***UNLOCKED SPOILERS AHEAD!***
THEORY 1: STELLARLUNE
Reasons theory is valid:
Stellarlune has been mentioned earlier on in the series but never really expanded on much. (Like everblaze, Neverseen, Nightfall, and legacy!) It will most likely be important later on, because it is the thing that "transformed" Keefe, and according to Lady Gisela, it "unlocks someone's full potential." (So in that way it's related to Unlocked, the preceding book. See what I did there? 😉)
Also, crazy other theory: what if stellarlune has something to do with Sophie? That way, the title fits even better!
Reasons theory is invalid:
I guess it might be invalid because all books before it are real words in the English language, or are at least compound words (ex: [Ever][blaze], [Never][seen]). Stellarlune translates to the words "star" and "moon", but they aren't English (however, it seems close enough to be a real word).
Also, stellarlune isn't as big as the other title names seem to be (the only exception to this being Flashback). Nobody is as interested in stellarlune going into book nine as they are about Keefe going to the Forbidden Cities. (Now I could be wrong about this, but I personally am not that interested in stellarlune in the scheme of things.)
Now let's test it out and see how it looks:
Keeper of the Lost Cities: Stellarlune
Meh. I guess. It doesn't seem like a real book title, if you know what I mean!
THEORY 2: MERGED
Reasons theory is valid:
It sounds super cool! Definitely a KOTLC-esque title! It also has to do with Keefe's merged abilities and how good and evil have merged . . . I don't know (went a little abstract on you there, LOL).
Reasons theory is invalid:
Well, I don't know if "merged" will really have to do with anything - especially since this book will be only in Sophie's perspective. (But it is definitely possible.) And, like stellarlune, it's not really one of the biggest deals to the characters (or the fandom) right now in the series. They're probably going to be more focused on finding Keefe, not fixating on his ability. (But, who knows? "Flashback" wasn't a big deal to anyone either. We'll have to wait and see.)
Now let's test it out and see how it looks:
Keeper of the Lost Cities: Merged
Definitely cool points there. But it seems sorta unlikely that it will be the title.
THEORY 3: ELYSIAN
Reasons theory is valid:
There is a lot of mystery surrounding stellarlune and Elysian, and maybe for that reason, Elysian could be our next book title. For the same reasons as stellarlune, it could be a cool title as they open Kenric's cache and find the secrets inside.
Reasons theory is invalid:
Unfortunately, there are more of these reasons than there are reasons why this title makes sense. Like stellarlune, it is not an English word or even a compound of English words. What makes the KOTLC titles so unique is that they aren't just made up words. They are everyday words that take a new spin on the old definition. Elysian doesn't have that.
And no one really knows anything about Elysian. And it isn't mentioned a lot. No one is going crazy trying to figure out what it is (at least not me). So it seems even more unlikely than the titles above that it could be the new one.
Now let's test it out and see how it looks:
Keeper of the Lost Cities: Elysian
Not really feeling it. (But who knows . . .? Maybe Shannon Messenger thinks it's a good title!)
OUTRO
I definitely have my money on Stellarlune. (Not a real word, I know, but close enough.)
What do you guys think of my guesses? Any other title theories? Tell me below in the comments. Thanks!
Update: I definitely don't think that Merged or Elysian will be the book title. Merged is a single syllable, whereas all of the other ones were two- or three-syllable words. Elysian also doesn't resemble any word in the English language. I think Stellarlune is the only likely book title left on this list because stella and lune are root words. It's also three syllables, as most of the book titles have been. I also think Moonlark would make a good title for the last book, but I don't think book nine will be the last one (it has too many loose ends).
Just to recap, I think book nine will be called Stellarlune and book ten will be called Moonlark. :)
Ooooh... Keeper Of The Lost Cities: Swan Song?
"Forbidden" maybe? Because Keefe is going to the Forbidden Cities. Or "Betrayal"?
Maybe "Rematch" or "Broken"?
